Suppress in Me the Strive to Love
Anya Deutsch was born in Moscow, and is the daughter of well-known surgeon Arkady Novikov, and concert pianist Galina Novikova.
When she was thirteen years old, her parents visited New York and were victims of a mugging in which Anya's father was tragically killed protecting her mother.
Two years after his death, Anya moved to New York with her mother and went on to graduate high school, college and eventually law school.
Inspired initially by music and sadness, Anya was able to express her personal tragedy in poetry.
Despite this, Anya's poetry is lyrical and penetrating.
Anya Deutsch currently lives in New York City with her two daughters, runs a law practice, and continues to write poetry.
