My Silk Route
Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov
$25.00
Venetian Marco Polo was a merchant. Traveling along the Silk Road made by ancient trade caravans, he reached China and then returned to Europe, where he landed in prison and wrote a book about his life.
Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov traversed his own Silk Road and found himself in a Venetian prison at the request of the American authorities. But the Americans could not provide any proof of his guilt, the guilt of a complicated man with a complicated fate, whose name was one of the most famous and the most respected in modern Russian history.
While this book was being translated into English, the US filed new charges against Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov which he has refuted, insisting on his complete innocence.
«I have always lived for America, I have dreamed of America, I always considered the USA a country of justice. That fact that I was punished in the Soviet Union is considered an honor in modern Russia. I have never committed any other crimes in a single other country of the world.»
