This is the first publication of a children’s story by the renowned Russian author Anton Chekhov, who is known worldwide primarily for his popular plays.
In 1886, the leading Russian author Anton Chekhov wrote a comic children’s story, “Scrambled Boots”. Chekhov had also richly illustrated this story with handwritten sketches glued into the handwritten text. That original illustrated manuscript has rarely been reproduced as a facsimile copy and has never been published in Russian. A careful search did not yield any published English translations of this story.
The story was translated by Yuriy Gurovich, a native Russian speaker who has lived in the United States since 1993. His initial encounter with this story occurred in early childhood, when his father would read it to him and his brother.
With this unique format of publication, Gurovich hopes the book will be enjoyed by his grandchildren, as well as children and adults of all ages.
