Yitzhak Mavashev was born in a traditional Jewish family and was tutored by a teacher invited from Jerusalem. Being exposed to variety of languages from his early age, Mavashev has acquired a keen ear for the nuances languages and music. He has translated the first Tadjik textbooks in physics, chemistry, biology…and even the multi volume edition of the Collected Works of Lenin.
