About my Grandpa Iosif
Isaak Spector
Grandpa Iosif was a talented musician, who was quickly noticed by the Tsar and invited to play with the court orchestra. After his injury and partial loss of hearing, he was decommissioned and was pensioned.
This saved him from the retribution of Bolsheviks after 1917. However, for his grandson Isaak, he became the window of knowledge about the days gone by. This tender tribute by a grandson enriches our knowledge about the lives of Russian Jews during the pre and post-revolutionary period.
